"Mathematics helps people flourish.
Mathematics is for human flourishing."

Stories of Mathematics
CMHF shares stories of lived experience in order to help broaden perspectives of mathematics and to promote human rights and human flourishing — the well-lived life — in school mathematics and beyond.
We invite you to engage with and learn from the stories below as you think about and support more engaging and affirming school mathematics experiences for all young people.
All of our storytellers are participants in preparing their stories to be shared. Final media are not posted without their consent.
Our statement about inclusion
CMHF believes that diversity is a strength, and we respect and value the backgrounds, interests, and lived experiences of all human beings.
We believe that embracing the similarities and differences among people helps to create communities where every person feels supported and included.
We believe that stories of lived experience naturally include various aspects of storytellers’ identities.
We believe that all aspects of each person’s identity impact the ways in which they experience mathematics.
We believe that it is vital to listen to people’s stories as they choose to share them as we consider how school mathematics can be transformed to support human rights and human flourishing – the well-lived life – for all.
